We quite like Magog, the most important on this hike. But it is huge, sprawling & often full. The overflow is a meadow with a fantastic view of Mt. Assiniboine.
Porcupine & Howard Douglas are good. But they are very small & often booked. We would like to see them expanded or additional campsites added.
One American solo hiker in 2004 was forced to hike from Magog to Egypt Lake because he could not get a reservation for Porcupine or Howard Douglas.

Cooking
All cooking should be done on a lightweight camping stove. Bring a back-up stove if possible, in case your primary stove breaks down.
Fuel for any stove is available in Banff.
Meals should be as simple & quick-cooking as possible.
