Mt. Assiniboine (3,618m) the Matterhorn of the Rockies a World Heritage site, is only one highlight of many. The towering pyramid is the dominant mountain in the southern Canadian Rockies and is, we feel, the prettiest.
Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park is unspoiled. There is no road access.
There are many ways to hike this area, but our recommended routes starts with either:
- a bus ride up to the highest ski resort in Canada, Sunshine
- a helicopter ride directly to Mt. Assiniboine Lodge
You could sprint this hike in 2-3 days. We take 6 days, 5 nights or more to have time to take in all the recommended sidetrips.

- Rock Isle (Garden Path) loop 5.7km (3.5mi) sidetrip
- Wonder Pass, a meadow walk to view Marvel Lake
- Citadel Pass
- Sunshine Meadows
- Sunburst Valley / Nub loop sidetrip 6.7km (4.2mi)
- Og Pass/ Windy Ridge sidetrip 8.7km (5.4mi)
- Assiniboine Lodge
