Ausangate, near Cuzco, is one of the best hikes in the world, far better than the famous Inca Trail.

Two Canadians — coming directly from the spectacular Qoyllur Rit'i festival <photos> — carried their own packs over the 4 high passes ... and survived, enjoying the excellent hot springs at the start & finish of the 70km adventure.
