The mountains in the background are recently famous. This is where the ice princess, Juanita, was found in 1995.

She is the most important Incan human sacrifice yet discovered atop a Peruvian mountain. Juanita was 14-years-old, had perfect teeth & seems to have been born to be given up to the Gods. She has her own excellent museum now in Arequipa, still perfectly preserved at minus 20 Celcius.
