How up-to-date is this information?
Not as up-to-date as we would like.
Note that each web page has the most recent date of revision posted at the bottom.
Local information is critical. The best source of advice is those who have recently hiked Huayhuash.
First stop in Huaraz is Cafe Andino great coffee & library. Christopher Benway, an American owner, is a wealth of information. Buy your Huayhuash map there.
In Lima or Cuzco stop in at South American Explorers. Members have full access to facilities and trip reports, but non-members are still helped. Ask if you can find someone through SAE who has recently done Huayhuash.
Conditions change in the mountains on a day to day, hour to hour basis. Expect the unexpected. Be ready for anything, especially altitude sickness.
That said, the main advantage of the Internet is currency. This site is as up-to-date as the last hiker who e-mailed to advise us of new issues on the hike.
