Training JournalMay 17, 2002- Kyle... Back from Colorado SpringsNationals are next week. I thought that I would add a journal entry before I am off. A lot has happened since the last time I wrote. I went to Germany in March and had a pretty good meet. I would have liked to have had a little bit better of a performance, but I think that I did the best that I could do on that particular day so I am happy. I had a great time when I was there too. It was nice to see all of my friends from the world cups. Dave Kikuchi came as well and he did good too. He made finals on pbars. He is a really awesome guy and I hope that his success continues! I went to Colorado Springs for a training camp at the end of April. It was really good. It was hard, but worth it. We were staying at the US Olympic training centre and the accommodations were awesome! It was great to be with the team and train with everyone. There were nine Canadians, 6 Australians and a few American guys. I think that I worked pretty hard and I actually really enjoyed myself while training. It was the perfect way to get things going for Nationals. I came home and I was in great shape and I was super motivated to make all of my routines clean and consistent for Winnipeg! Since Colorado I have been training a lot. I've had a hard couple of weeks because I wanted to work as hard as I could and make myself tired so that this week I would taper and feel great going into Nationals. The plan seems to be working and I feel very prepared. I had a mock competition yesterday and I hit all of my events. I am so psyched right now! I did an interview for www.gymn.ca <http://www.gymn.ca> and it should be up within the next week. Look out for it. I will link it to the site when it is up. It was my birthday on May 6. I am 20 now! I sure don't feel 20. I still kind of feel like I am 17. I don't know, 20 sounds old. I had a good birthday though. I went to Uldi's for supper and then met some friends and had a beer in celebration. The weather here was really awful on my birthday, it was snowing and cold. I think that was the first time that it snowed on my birthday in my life. Oh well, not much I could do about it! I would have loved for it to have been sunny and 26 degrees, but one week after my birthday it was! Calgary has the weirdest weather system. Wish me luck at Nationals and I will write all about it when I return. Kyle
