There are no other accommodation options on the Track. You cannot tent though it may be possible to sleep out under the stars, weather permitting.

Accommodation in Milford Sound

At Milford there is a private hotel (Mitre Peak Lodge) for guided walkers only and a backpackers 2km from the town. Not much of a selection!

Fortunately, the backpackers is just fine. We recommend it.

We recommend you stay over in tiny Milford Sound town if you can spare the time. It is terrifically quiet and gorgeous — after the dozens of tour buses depart. The pub and restaurant at the private hotel are open to independent hikers.
