Yes! World class trout fishing is a splash away in the Clinton and Arthur rivers as well as Lake Ada. You could fish each day though day 1 allows for the most time. Carry light gear. Trout average about 60cm!
Drop-in to any sport shop in New Zealand to suss the local fishing rules & pickup a short-term fishing licence.
You really should fly fish but we have been told a lure works too.
Can I buy food on the Track?
No, nothing.
Parking at the Trailhead?
Your valuables should be safe in your vehicle in New Zealand. But better check to see if your hotel would store valuables until your return.
You should too arrange to leave your vehicle with the hotel / hostel you will return to after the hike. (You will want a hot shower.)
A car park is available free of charge at the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre in Te Anau. (You would need to arrange transport to the boat launch.)
If you drive out to Te Anau Downs, there is a small parking area beside the highway where you can leave your vehicle. One of the ferry workers told us he had parked there for over 28 years without a problem!
If you would prefer a little more security, you can park at Grumpy's a few minutes walk from the boat pier for about NZ$12. (Less if you stay there on return from the Milford Track!)

Are there toilets on the Milford?
There are flush toilets at every hut and long drop toilets every hour or two along the Track.
Unfortunately this still is not enough. Some sections of the Track are littered with toilet paper. Ladies please bag and rubbish toilet paper as possums tend to dig and scatter it about .

Great loo view from the long drop at Pass Hut
Where are the nearest showers?
No hot shower for you until you get back to a hotel or hostel. Brave hikers jump in the river or lake each day risking hypothermia and blood loss to sandflies.
