Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC brochure map

The Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC brochure map is great — ask for a free copy at Mountain Equipment Co-op stores or contact the Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC — they'll mail you a copy at no cost.

It has an informative disclaimer:

This map is hand drawn and intended as a rough guide only. The trail as marked on the map is only a rough representation that indicates where it mostly follows the land or where the route mostly follows the beach / sand flats / tidal shelves. The trail may vary between forest and beach within those sections; watch for buoys marking entrance to forest. Take recommended topographic maps, nautical charts and a compass for route finding.

On this web site we've generally used the names from that map in cases where different landmarks have different names:

  • Calvin Falls, not Crawfish Falls
  • Louie Lagoon, not Louis Lagoon

One exception is the name of the first beach campsite on the normal route; the first beach is actually called Third Beach.

Nootka #92 E/10 topographical map (1:50,000) published by Energy, Mines and Resources Canada is available from a number of sources including FedMaps.com

It's not essential, but you'll likely enjoy having the topo map as well as the simple brochure map.
