Many hikers fly in to the body of water east of Louie Bay called Louie Lagoon or Starfish Lagoon or Starfish Bay, then hike the coast to Friendly Cove
It only takes about 1 hour to hike from Louie Lagoon to Third Beach (not First Beach as it is called on some other maps)
Consider a side trip to the Esperanza Mission Camp following a marked trail from Third Beach to the isthmus of Louie Bay, then walk along the north-west bay shore to near Tongue Point at low tide, from where a short trail leads to the Camp.
Departing Third Beach at low tide you can access a scramble route over the tip of the headland, or you can bypass those headlands by heading up a muddy slope inside the forest which had a fixed rope in 2002..
