It can be difficult to find any kind of accommodation in Vancouver during the summer. Book your digs long in advance.

Vancouver Hostels

A large number of hostels have sprung-up to accommodate the many backpackers who like to hangout on the coast.

There are 2 official International Hostels with beds costing between C$16 - C$24 / person:

• HI – Vancouver Downtown
• HI – Jericho Beach

Global Village Backpackers is one of the private hostels. You’ll pay something like C$24 to bunk there.

Vancouver Hotels

There’s a wide selection in Vancouver. Start with the Vancouver Visitor Info Centre 1 800 663-6000 for advice.

A recommended budget hotel is the Kingston Hotel on Richards Street. Reservations: 1 (888) 713-3304

A well-located budget option is the Dufferin Hotel.

You can take your pick of the major midrange chain hotels.

But if you want something with more character, try the Bosman’s or the Burrard Motor Inn.

Luxury hotels? Oh, please! We’ve never been in one.
