Why?

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Can I mountain bike the WCT?

No bikes allowed on either the WCT or Juan de Fuca Trail.

Can I kayak the WCT?

On this, the Ship Wreck Coast, kayaking is not recommended. The Juan de Fuca Trail area is a safer, more popular kayaking destination. Even better, consider a trip to the nearby Broken Island group, Canada's most popular kayak destination.

If you insist on bringing your kayak to the WCT, we understand that a Trail Permit is still required to overnight. We’ve seen kayaks on WCT beaches but not very often.

Can I fish on the WCT?

Yes. You could bring light gear. We agree that it's strange that everything is protected in a National Park except for fish.

Drop-in to any local tackle shop in BC to suss the local fishing rules & pick up either Non-Tidal Angling Licence or Tidal Waters Sports Fishing Licence. Check for restrictions and closures.
