Campsites highlighted in yellow are recommend depending on how many nights you will be sleeping on the Trail. It's controversial in that we are recommending 3 sites not normally popular — Tsusiat Point, Tsocowis and a wilderness site north of Michigan. They aren't crowded & that is why we like them.

Your own favourites may not match ours.

Almost everyone camps at Thrasher due to the logistics of catching the boat across the Gordon River & the difficulty of the terrain

Most stop at Camper because it is the closest camp to Thrasher & because most want low tide to hike this section. Camper also has amazing seaspouts you shouldn't miss.

Carmanah we prefer over the other options for the spacious beach, the gorgeous view & proximity to Chez Monique's. It is popular but not crowded as the beach is huge.

Almost everyone plans to camp at Tsusiat Falls. It is amazing. But Hole in the Wall at Tsusiat Point is fantastic too. (It's not an official campsite as it is small.) Stop at Tsusiat Falls for photos instead of camping there.

Tsocowis has a wonderful waterfall & is usually not crowded.

Michigan is the camp to avoid if you can. There's not much shelter if it's raining hard. If you are adventurous, search out the coves west of Michigan & find your own wilderness site.

If your have 6 nights on the Trail we recommend you hike every day. If you have 7, 8, or 9 nights you will be a happy camper. No rush. Take a rest day whenever you want!

If you have 5 nights on the Trail you will be pushing hard every day to stay on schedule. You will wish you had more time.

You must be a maniac to hike the West Coast Trail in 4 days — it won't be much fun.
