Cullite Creek

hikers on laddersTip. You might want to use the BACK button to return to the previous page when finished.

At Cullite Creek, camp on the east side of the pretty Bay. Cullite is infamous, by the way, for having the highest ladders on the WCT. Keep your camera handy as it provides a good excuse to rest frequently.

Cross Cullite by Cable Car. Keep your gloves handy in your pack for cable car crossings.

Heading towards Bamfield from Cullite, take the forest Trail which winds through a strange bog. An acidic , low-nitrogen environment results in this bizarre vegetation which looks more suited to northern Saskatchewan than the west coast.

Heading towards Port Renfrew, the hike through the forest to Sandstone is straight forward. You will make good time.

At Sandstone, climb down the ladders to the bridge then make a decision to scramble down Sandstone to the shelf or stay on the muddy forest Trail.

We recommend you scramble Sandstone. Go for it! But only if you have really low tides. ... & the river is not running high. ... & the weather is decent.
