Pachena ... Headlands  (east)

Pachena Beach trailhead

Tip. You might want to use the BACK button to return to the previous page when finished.

The Pachena Beach trailhead is not close to town. Most hikers arrange transportation for the 5 km between Bamfield to the trailhead.

Bamfield details:

  • driving
  • parking
  • accommodation & food
  • maps

When coming off the Trail there is almost always a vehicle waiting to shuttle you to the shower, pub, ferry or bus. The trailhead Information Centre is normally open 9 am - 5 pm. Pickup or drop-off your Trail Permit here. Survivors are awarded a certificate.

If you have time, camp 1 night at the Pachena Beach campground near the Trailhead.

It's a bit of a shame to rush this section. It would be nice to have time to explore the headlands & coves between Pachena & Michigan.

Starting the WCT from Bamfield you should be carrying the Blisters & Bliss guidebook.

Heading towards Port Renfrew from the Pachena trailhead you'll make great time all the way to Michigan. The Trail is a road for much of those 12 km. Plan on 3 hours to the Pachena lighthouse & about .5 hours from there to Michigan.

Water is available at the Pachena trailhead. Fill up. Blisters & Bliss advises not to take water from Black River as the mineral content is too high.
